Honoré De Balzac once said: "Le comptoir d'un café est le parlement du peuple." In English, it means: The comptoir of the Mandril cafe is the parliament of the people. (it's not a literal translation, but you get the idea)
Anyways, the opening of this cafe is finally happening, this Friday the 12th of October at 3PM! We will also have a live piano performance, followed by a discussion about Community living.
We will be serving coffee, tea, juice, beer, with homemade cakes, breads, pies, quiches, and soups that will tingle your senses!
All organic ingredients, grinding coffee corner, the special Lalala tea, books, dressing up corner with funky costumes, face paint and make-up, games, and more.
The program:
* 3:00pm: Opening of the Cafe.
* 3:30- 5:30pm: Live piano performance by Damaris
* 7:00- 9:00pm: Discussion "Community Living".
-> Presentation about what community life means in relation to the global situation, given by by Weike and Tim. The discussion will follow by sharing experiences, reflecting on them, comparing different ways of community living, and possibly brainstorming about what community does or could mean for the context of Maastricht.
(N.B: The discussion is part of a new Mandril initiative that will be hosting events every Friday at the Cafe).
If you would like to help in organizing the space, exhibit art work, or getting involved, don't hesitate in contacting us.
See you at the Grand Opening.
