Climate Camp in Poland (18.–22.07.2018): update & programme

Where open pit mines are causing beautiful lakes to disappear, the Noteć river to dry up on a stretch of over 30 kilometres, and where farmers are forced to accept annual decline in crop yields, we will meet to join local communities in the fight against social injustice and the destruction of nature [mobi video].
Climate change, and the degradation of regions in which fossil fuels are extracted, emerges from the systematic exploitation of the natural environment and people. Opposing this harmful process requires cooperation and the combined forces of everyone who does not agree to live in a world that is stripped of trees, polluted, dug up or deprived of natural lakes and rivers.

HOW TO GET TO THE CAMP?
The Camp takes place in the village called Świętne (central Poland). If you use public transport, the nearest and best connected cities are Mogilno, Konin and Inowrocław. Please let us know that you’re coming, so we can pick you up from there: kontakt@obozdlaklimatu.org If you use Facebook, there is a public group for connecting people travelling from the same cities or regions: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1693319147441764/
Since the Camp starts on Wednesday (July 18th) morning, we encourage you to come already on Tuesday (July 17th). All needed infrastructure will be ready by then. The closing plenary will take place on Sunday (July 22nd) in the evening.
If you don’t need any help with getting to the Camp, please let us know that you are planning to come anyway, so we can prepare better (translations, food, etc.). Thanks!
PROGRAMME
Our programme (see below) is finally ready! In addition to the content-related workshops and discussions, there will be concerts (from folk to rap), excursions, sport activities (from yoga to frisbee), art activities (from performances to samba), and plenty of open space events (from upcycling to permaculture)!
Most of the workshops, plenary meetings and excursions will be held in Polish, but there are also many in English (marked with EN) and one in Spanish (marked with ES). We will do our best to provide translation. We also hope for self-organisation and whisper translation.

IMPORTANT
As agreed with the local community, our protest activities will be limited to demonstrations and happenings. We express full understanding and approval for civic disobedience in justified situations, but we will act with respect for the will of the local residents.
The camp space is free from promoting any brands, organisations or party affiliations.

There will be vegan food prepared by a Food Not Bombs group from Łódź.
