Linux open source wereld gaat moeilijke tijd tegemoet

Oprichter belangrijkste Linux distributie overleden.
Dit bericht is alleen voor Linux gebruikers relevant aangezien ze bekend zijn met de problematiek. Er is zeer verontrustend nieuws in de wereld van software ontwikkelaars. Ian de oprichter van Debian waar Ubuntu is op gebasseerd is mishandeld door de politie. Later heeft hij zelfmoord gepleegd. Op diverse forums vertellen ook andere Linux ontwikkelaars stelselmatig lastig gevallen te worden en of mishandeld te zijn door de politie. Ik adviseer dringend om software ontwikkelaars die werken aan open source om hun eigen identiteit te beschermen en over te gaan op anoniem verder te werken aan open source projecten zoals Linux.

Nogmaals als u de hyperlinks leest besef dan dat vele programmeurs in een soort gelijke situatie zitten en ook verhalen bijvoorbeeld in elkaar geslagen worden, compleet naakt verhoord worden, en zelfmoorden zoals ook Aaron Swarz. Op dit moment zijn er meer dan 70 programmeurs sinds 2008 op tragische wijze na confrontatie met meestal de politie of overheid om het leven gekomen.

Het spijt me dat ik met diepe verontrustheid er nogmaals op moet wijzen dat ontwikkelen van met name open source software een ernstige bedreiging voor uw eigen veiligheid kan zijn. Neem voorzorg en draag alleen nog anoniem bij. Eindig niet op de lijst van tragische overleden computer programmeurs. Let op, dit is echt! Van de overheid kan je niet winnen, dat zijn samengevat de laatste woorden van Ian. Mensenrechten zijn een gunst en geen vanzelfsprekendheid.
