Voor de ontwikkelaars is de ZAD sinds decennia slechts een 'ontwikkelings zone'. Voor ons is dit is een zone om te verdedigen (Zone A Défendre). Hoe dan ook, de ruimte is gelegen op het platteland ten noorden van Nantes (Frankrijk).

Volgens de machthebbers moet dit stuk land plaats maken voor industriële plannen en dan met name een internationale luchthaven. Dit bijzondere megaproject is in handen van de multinational Vinci. Andere projecten die Vinci onderneemt zijn onder andere gevangenis faciliteiten, tolwegen, kerncentrales, enzovoort. Veel activisten in de ZAD zijn niet alleen aan het strijden tegen de aanleg van dit vliegveld, maar verzetten zich tegen het kapitaal, de staat en de controle over hun dagelijkse leven in het algemeen.

Commissies uit de hele regio zijn meerdere malen in de afgelopen twee jaar bijeen gekomen om hun reactie in het geval van een nieuwe aanval op de ZAD of begin van het werk te plannen. We zullen klaar zijn om terug te slaan als het moment daar is.

Wij roepen alle tegenstanders op om deel te nemen op deze dag met soortgelijke acties (of iets anders) in hun regio, of om met ons mee te doen. Reserveer zaterdag 16 januari! Call-out for a massive day of action on Saturday 16th January

To the developers, the ZAD is merely a ‘deferred development zone’ since decades. To us, this is a zone to be defended (Zone À Défendre). Either way, the space is located in the countryside north of Nantes, in France. According to the Power, it should make way for industrialist plans, and particularly an international airport of Notre-Dame-des-Landes. The particular mega-project is in the hands of the multinational corporation Vinci, which also provides other ‘services’ worldwide, such as prison facilities, toll highways, nuclear power stations, and so forth. Many activists in the ZAD are not only in struggle against the airport construction, but resist the Capital, the State and any control over their everyday lives in general.

Committees from all over the region have met several times over the past two years to plan their reaction in case of a new attack on the ZAD or beginning of work. We will be ready to strike back if the moment comes.
