MUMIA ABU-JAMAL'S LIFE IS IN DANGER !

Mumia's life is in danger !
WHY? Since 30 march 1 o'clock they took mumia to the intensive care at a citizen-hospital.
His wife, family and lawyers are not allowed to visit him, nor do they get any information what is
going on with mumia. There are suporters and concerned friends of mumia in front of the hospital, but
mumia is guarded by police officers........
On this same day is running a proces against the state, which put up a new law to silence all prisoners,
specially mumia as a journalist, from free speech.
With other words; if mumia writes an article and some 'victums' feel hurt by his words, the judge can
disconnect the comumication, by law.
So this proces is to fight this law and have free speech of words, of communication, visiters, etc.
On 24 of april ,mumia will become 61 years, from which he spent 30 years on deathrow!
We all have to make it happen that he survives this inhuman system.
POWER FOR FREEDOM !
friday,24 april, museumplein, 3 0'clock.

Update as of Tuesday evening: From Mumia’s attorney Bret Grote of the Abolitionist Law Center: “Yesterday morning, March 30, Mumia Abu-Jamal was rushed to the hospital after passing out at State Correctional Institution (SCI) Mahanoy. He was admitted to the Schuylkill Medical Center with a blood sugar level of 779. Today, he received visits from his wife, Wadiya, and his brother, Keith Cook. Mumia’s blood sugar had dropped to 333 as of a couple hours ago. This is still elevated and at an unhealthy level.

“Mumia does not have a history of diabetes but had been experiencing a series of symptoms that should have alerted medical staff at the prison to the onset of the disease. Instead, he was not given comprehensive diagnostic treatment and a medical crisis emerged that could have resulted in his slipping into a diabetic coma or worse.

“Prison officials only relented and permitted visitation under immense public pressure from all over the world. Keep it up. If the prison had its way, nobody would know Mumia was hospitalized, nor would they have permitted visits or the release of any medical information to his family.

“Family and friends are not leaving Pottsville. Mumia is not out of danger and we will remain vigilant and mobilized. The state keeps trying to kill Mumia – spied on by the FBI since he was 15, shot in the chest and severely beaten on Dec. 9, 1981, framed for a killing he did not commit and put on death row, held in solitary confinement under threat of execution for 30 years, and now denied competent, basic medical care.

“He is alive because the movement has fought like hell to make it so. The government of the united states of apartheid can never be trusted to protect the rights or respect the lives of Black people or those held in prison. Never forgive, never forget. Stay alert and ready to act.

Free Mumia!”

Professor Johanna Fernandez of the Bring Mumia Home campaign notes: “Mumia has been complaining about being ill since January. If he had gotten the proper care he needed originally, he would not be in this situation. This crisis illustrates the problem of health care in American prisons as a basic human rights violation. I am personally concerned because Phil Africa of the MOVE organization was rushed to the hospital not long ago in good health and a few days later he was dead. We need to fight to defend Mumia’s life, and that of all prisoners.”

Update: Supporter Professor Victor Wallis writes at 12:10 p.m. PDT: “Mumia’s wife and his brother were both finally allowed brief visits with him. He is still in intensive care at the hospital in Pottsville. He is conscious but sedated. His blood sugar had shot up high enough to almost produce a coma, but has now been partially brought down. He is heavily guarded and is shackled to his bed.”

Most importantly, he adds, “The immediate demand now is for his case to be reviewed by doctors representing his family.” Please call the numbers below, which have been corrected and updated.

UPDATE: Mumia Abu-Jamal Taken from Hospital Back to Prison; Family Limited to One Visit A Week

After an international outcry authorities have allowed family members of imprisoned journalist and former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal to visit him for the first time since he blacked out from diabetic shock in prison and woke up in an outside hospital.

“When I saw him he ate lunch in front of me. I helped him cut the meat,” his brother Keith Cook told Democracy Now!.

Abu-Jamal was shackled to the bed during his visit with Cook on Tuesday.

"He had one arm with handcuffs on it, and needle in the other arm with a drip for insulin," Cook said.

Abu-Jamal was also allowed to see his wife Wadiya. The next day his brother Bill Cook and his oldest son Jamal Hart were each allowed a 30-minute visit and said he had labored breathing, was in pain, thirsty, and shaking.

After the visits authorities limited Abu-Jamal’s family members to one meeting a week. All other meetings have been denied, including with his lawyers and longtime supporter Pam Africa, who is listed on his medical records as his emergency medical contact.

Then on Wednesday night authorities transferred Abu-Jamal from the Intensive Care Unit of Schuylkill Medical Center in Pottsville back to the infirmary at SCI Mahanoy prison in Frackville, Pennsylvania. He was not allowed visitors Thursday.

On Friday his supporters plan to hold a rally outside the prison to demand he be allowed to receive medical care from doctors outside the facility. They say authorities withheld from Abu-Jamal details about three blood tests he had done in February that could have indicated he was suffering from diabetes.

"We believe they knew he was not well," Keith Cook said, "and we are concerned this treatment he is receiving adds to his emergency."

On Monday, Abu-Jamal’s longtime friend Johanna Fernández discovered he had been transferred from prison to the hospital only after she went she to visit him because he sounded sick when the two spoke by phone last week.

Abu-Jamal is one of the world’s most famous political prisoners. He was convicted of the 1981 murder of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner, but has always maintained his innocence. Amnesty International has found he was deprived of a fair trial.
