Spyros Stratoulis was incarcerated at the age of 17 and has spent the past 22 years in prison. From there he has faught the prison system with numerous hunger strikes\, solidarity documents\, abstentions from food\, prison riots etc.

These places were squatted about a year ago to highlight the fact that Mitros is not doing their job even according to their own statutes and to protest the lack of affordable housing in utrecht.
In 2010 there was a fire in one of the apartments. Instead of cleaning the little bit of soot from the hallway Mitros evicted the remaining houses and shortly afterwards cut off the basic services to prevent anyone from living in the building.
Since the end of 2012\, a large group of undocumented migrants and asylum seekers started a protest aimed at challenging current migration policies\, criminalisation\, militarisation of borders\, and deportation procedures. In the few months the size of the group grew to 220\, and despite the attempts by politicians to divide and disperse them\, they started squatting buildings in order to stay together\, become visible\, and organise their political actions.
